Description

Album is the 22nd studio album by The Beach Boys, released on October 2, 1978 on Brother/Reprise. Recorded during a fraught time for the band, only Mike Love, Al Jardine, and Brian Wilson appear consistently throughout the album, with Carl and Dennis Wilson audible on only a few tracks. Produced by Al Jardine and songwriter Ron Altbach, the album's title stems from Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa, where the majority of the album was recorded.

Redirected from 20/20 (The Beach Boys album)). The LP was named for being their 20th overall album release. Much of it consists of outtakes from earlier albums.

Album completes a kind of informal trilogy for the Beach Boys - a cycle begun by Brian Wilson’s widely ballyhooed, confusing and ultimately some-what botched return to an active role inside the group with 15 Big Ones in 1976. The new record has little of the derivative, heavy-handed rock & roll revisionism that characterized 15 Big Ones and even less of the murk eccentricity of The Beach Boys Love You, the middle LP. Instead, it’s a resolutely sunny retrospective: a carefully orchestrated return to the style, if not the scope, of the band’s classic mid-Sixties material

beach city and that album plays perfectly with that ocean breeze blowing around. I grew with my mom blasting that record growing up so it also has a nostalgic feel to it. Later in life I heard some say the album wasn't considered one of the Beach Boys best, but whenever I think of the Beach Boys I always go right to the . part of this 2 disc set is just an added bonus for me with some fun bouncy tracks on it like "Hey Little Tomboy" and "Match Point of Our Love".
