The Best of Both Worlds is the second greatest hits album by American hard rock band Van Halen, released on July 20, 2004 on Warner Bros. The compilation features material recorded with lead vocalists David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar, but omitting Gary Cherone's three-year tenure with the band. Prior to The Best of Both Worlds' release, Hagar reunited with Van Halen, and the band subsequently recorded three new tracks to include on the release.

The Album has some killer songs including: Eruption A short guitar solo by Mr Van Halen which is one of the reasons he is known as one of the greatest guitarists ever and this one of the greatest solo’s ever. Eddie also did the solo for Beat It by Michael Jackson. Best Of Both Worlds An Intro that reminds me of AC/DC’s Highway to Hell, it is a good opener to a very good song. A chorus that is almost bellowed and a fairly soft verse. Traditional solo which further shames 99% of guitarists ever.
The Both Worlds means, of course, the two different periods with the two different front men: David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. Their 3 album from 1998, with Gary Cherone on vocals, is still ignored, even though several tracks on this album (. One I Want and Dirty Water Dog ) were just as interesting as most of the other tracks Van Halen recorded after 1986. But seriously, neither this album, nor any of the ones that followed, can justify the release of a Best Of Van Halen (with more than 30 of the band’s songs) where Hagar is singing on as many as the half of them! And now, after years absent, Eddie & Co have reformed the line-up with Sammy. The Best Of Both Worlds gives a foretaste on what’s to com. hree new tracks are added, It’s About Time, Up For Breakfast, and Learning To Se. nd they all suck!
