Ambrosian Delights is a concerto for the knifonium, a vacuum-tube-based analogue synthesiser created by Jonte Knif. Romer's Gap is a concerto for electrically amplified cellist Perttu Kivilaasko, who walks the delicate line of contemporary classical music and sophisticated metal. Multikolor is a single movment work for baritone sax and small chamber orchestra and Ambrosian Delights is a concerto for the knifonium, a vacuum-tube-based analogue synthesiser created by Jonte Knif.

Olli Virtaperko’s new concerto for amplified cello Romer’s Gap was written in 2015/16 for Perttu Kivilaakso, one of three cello-playing frontmen in the metal band Apocalyptica. But Kivilaakso isn’t the only cellist to have been a member of a rock band in Finland. Virtaperko is known as a Baroque cellist and violist as well as a composer, but for six years from 1995 he was a vocalist in the Finnish group Ultra Bra. Throughout his composing career, Virtaperko has explored and tested the common ground occupied by early music performance practice and contemporary popular music

Jyväskylä Sinfonia has published nearly 40 recordings, of which the most successful one is the recording together with the luminous opera star Karita Mattila; the CD that includes music by Lasse Mårtenson has sold over 8. 00 pieces after the publication in 1998. In 2015, Jyväskylä Sinfonia published a double CD to celebrate Aulis Sallinen’s 80th jubilee year. The recording contains the whole Chamber Music Suite together with pianist Ralf Gothóni, cellist Arto Noras, and string quartet Meta4 . The last CDs are Romer’s Gap which is made with Olli Virtaperko (b. 1973) and it contains three concertos: one for amplified cello with Perttu Kivilaakso, one for knifonium with Jonte Knif, and one for baritone saxophone with Joonatan Rautiola and Pekka Kostiainen’s Requiem, recorded together with St Michel Strings.
