Description

For this 2011 release on Mirare, Lidija and Sanja Bizjak present Igor Stravinsky's complete music for piano four hands, including the spectacular transcriptions of the ballets Petrushka and Le Sacre du printemps. These are challenging versions of 20th century orchestral masterpieces, and the complexities of the rhythms and changing meters are enough to trip up many capable musicians.

Lidija & Sanja Bizjak - Bernstein: West Side Story. Born in Belgrade in 1988 where she starts studying piano with Zlata Males, Sanja Bizjak becomes a student at the Paris Conservatoire under Jacques Rouvier at the age of twelve. In 2004 she finishes piano and chamber music studies with Itamar Golan. Since then, she has been studying with Alexander Satz in Graz and Elisso Virsaladze in Munich and has participated in master classes with Ferenc Rados, Menahem Pressler, Maurice Bourgue, Oleg Maisenberg, Igor Lazko, Dmitri Alexeev, Felix Gottlieb and Stanislav Pochekin.

Sanja Bizjak (born 8 September 1988) is a Serbian pianist. Bizjak was born in Belgrade. She began studying the piano at the age of six with Professor Zlata Males. At age seven, she played the Joseph Haydn Keyboard Concerto in D with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. At twelve in February 2001, she began studying under Jacques Rouvier at the Conservatoire de Paris. She has won several international awards, including the International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz in Kiev in 2003
