Lamb of God - Burn the Priest (1999).

BURN THE PRIEST (LAMB OF GOD) - celebrates 20th anniversary with release of new covers album, Legion: XX ! 2018-03-23 - RIAA-certified, Billboard chart-topping, Richmond, VA band LAMB OF GOD may be one of the biggest bands in modern metal, but they will never forget where they came from. Mark Morton (guitar), John Campbell (bass), and Chris Adler (drums) formed the first incarnation of the band, BURN THE PRIEST, in the winter of 1994 after meeting four years earlier as students at Virginia Commonwealth University. As they enter their 20th year since releasing their first self-titled album as BURN THE PRIEST, the band will release a full-length covers album that reflects on the greatness of classic punk, hardcore, crossover and noise - rock subgenres that contributed to what LAMB OF GOD - and indeed, the world - now view as modern heavy metal.

Burn the Priest is an American heavy metal band formed in 1994 in Richmond, Virginia. The band decided to change their name to Lamb of God shortly after the release of a self-titled debut album in 1998. Mark Morton (guitar), Chris Adler (drums) and John Campbell (bass) started a band named Burn the Priest. The band members knew each other from the college they were all attending, Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

Burn the Priest is the debut album by American heavy metal band Lamb of God, who were then known as Burn the Priest. The album was released on April, 1999 by Legion Records. It is the final release to feature Abe Spear on guitar, as well as the last release before the band changed their name to Lamb of God.

Burn the Priest moved away from the metal world for Legion: XX, instead tackling punk, hardcore, crossover and sludge tracks from bands like Bad Brains, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, . Our inauspicious beginnings somehow grew into something none of us had ever even imagined possible, let alone aspired to, however, this is the story of Burn the Priest, says guitarist Mark Morton. The songs we chose to cover on this album reflect that story. They are touchstones from that point in time

Album (Studio full-length). Groove Metal, Metalcore. Burn the Priest Information. Track listing (Songs).

The quintet will release the project as Burn the Priest, which was its original moniker - it had renamed itself Lamb of God by the time it delivered its second album, 2000’s New American Gospel, to prevent any potential associations with Satanic metal. Vocalist Randy Blythe explains that back when the act was called Burn the Priest, the black metal scene was starting to get a lot of coverage in the United States. like, ‘Oh, you worship the devil. No, we’re basically a punk rock band that kind of plays metal, so, no, we don’t worship the devil.

German Nuclear Blast vinyl of XX has a bonus Helmet track that seems to be only available as the B-side of the 7” vinyl release of “Inherit the Earth”

It might happen now they are releasing a NEW album! - Legion:XXhttp://burnthepriest.lamb-of-god.com I'd love to hear the original album re-released on vinyl, with a 'fatter' mix. Always thought it was a bit thin.Despite that, Chronic Auditory Hallucination is one of my fav songs, ever.
