When it came out in 1996, I loved the Oakey & Ozzy full-on trance mix. Its phantasmagoria and hyperactivity matched my youthful exuberance on the dancefloor. Listening to it some seven years later, I find it has not aged well at all. Some dance music ages like a fine wine (Orbital's LUSH), this stuff ages like a fruit salad. 'Nuff said. Conversely, the LTJ Bukem remix is still an absolute classic. Atmospheric, energetic, and possessing one of Bukem's deceptively simple melodic flourishes, this mix is as captivating now as it was when I fist heard it. 1996 was the year I was first exposed to drum & bass, and LTJ Bukem's style sounded so new and different to me. While Bukem and his crew might not be the fountain of original ideas they once were, when I play this out (which is not often), it re-captures a little of that vintage magic.
