Beat Street is the seventh studio album by the Canadian pop rock band Prism. It features high-profile guest backing vocalists, including the Eagles' co-lead vocalist Timothy B. Schmit, Toto's lead vocalist Bobby Kimball and Chicago's lead vocalist Bill Champlin. Beat Street is more of a solo album by Henry Small than a Prism album as it features no other members of the band apart from guitarist Paul Warren, and it relies heavily on session musicians. The album was the last recording of original material under Prism's name until they officially reformed in 1987-88.

'Pump It Up' is a great deep, dark and menacing jacker from mid '86. It's just a shame that the sound quality is truly terrible (as was the norm for early Chi-town house releases).

I would certainly agree with what you say.

yes terrible pressings they were for the most part. But I believe that's what also gave them the "dark and menacing" aspect which a lot of the chicago classics had. there is Just something about that "raw", "under-produced" sound of original chicago house. It might be hard for some people to understand if they did not grow up with it when it was the normal for these tracks to sound the way they did back then. Now days everything is "super produced" with computers and software and it all sounds static and sterile.
