What Is This Thing Called Love? Richie Beirach Trio.

ARTISTS Richie Beirach - piano George Mraz - bass Billy Hart - drums Gregor Huebner - violin. Originally released on Venus on May 26, 2003 Re-issued on Takoma Records, Jan 06, 2009.

Pianist Richie Beirach's jazzification of classical melodies written by Schumann, Beethoven, Satie, Faure and Debussy. With the great support by George Mraz and Billy Hart, Beirach's performance here is by turns swinging, romantic and melancholic. Guest violinist Gregor Huebner appears on two tracks. Razem z tą płytą inni Melomani kupowali: Whites off Earth Now!!!

Beirach p, G. Mraz b, B. Drummond ds, G. Huebner violin, Venus 2002. The trio with the guest plays nine compositions primarily from classical composers, from Bach, Beethoven, Chopin to Debussy, Satie and one from Beirach. I& not very familiar with that kind of music, but what is played here doesn& sound much like classical music to me. This is jazz using classical melodies, influences by classical music can be heard by sure. But in the end it is great jazz played by great improvisers and soloists and it is not a kind of jazz-classical fusion
