San Francisco-based EFX (b. Raul Recinos) began his career in the early 90s overseeing the decks at funk and hip-hop parties, also playing hi-NRG in gay clubs by night. His partner, Digit (b. Jeremy Cowan), took an active role in a succession of funk and ska bands, and was a DJ at Powerplant in Chicago when that city underwent its famous house revolution. After meeting at a record shop they steadily built a reputation with their releases, which kicked off on Strictly Rhythm with two records as Politix Of Dancing
