Great Western Valkyrie is the fourth studio album by American rock band Rival Sons. The album, which is the first to feature new bass player Dave Beste (in place of founding member Robin Everhart), was released in June 2014.

Opening with the plodding riffs of Electric Man, Great Western Valkyrie is the Rival Sons’ biggest and baddest studio effort, a no-holds-barred assault of ’70s-influenced rock, swirling psychedelia and overdriven guitars. Tunes like Secret and Play the Fool are inspired by the muscular, blues-driven bash of Zeppelin and Sabbath, while more solemn moments ( Rich and the Poor, Good Things ) are awash in psychedelic guitars and spacey reverb.

Great Western Valkyrie is a strong addition to the Rival Sons’ previous albums and fans of the band will not be disappointed. Rival Sons are set to unleash a new album this year. The album will be called 'Great Western Valkyrie' and will arrive on June 10 via Earache Records. The California rockers frontman Jay Buchanan says this album finds the band really honing in on their sound. He explains, " a conscious decision for this band to just be what it i. And what that band is is a group known for their spontaneity and recording albums in the moment. Great Western Valkyrie' will also mark a change for the band. In the time between albums, original bassist Robin Everhart left the group, but longtime friend Dave Beste (Maroon 5, Rocco Deluca) joined Rival Sons before they returned to the studio. Beste was on hand with the band when they laid down the new album with producer Dave Cobb in Nashville back in January.
