Quiet Storm never dies, although many of its love-man practitioners' discs blend together into a kind of ardent wallpaper. So it's a bit of a surprise to find Brian McKnight's fourth album, Back at One asserting itself as a committed, highly listenable sample of the genre. Putting his writing skills to work, McKnight manages to make one midtempo plaint after another stand out from its brothers on the disc . I would recommend this album to R&B fans because it is quality work and I believe most would find it enojoyable. Brian showcases a lot of talent with this recording and it made me appreciate him so much more as an artist. Mikeisha's Top 5. 1. Back at One. Lonely.

Brian McKnight backs away ever so slightly from the streetwise rhythms Puff Daddy injected into Anytime with his fifth album, Back at One. That's not to say that the album doesn't sound contemporary or fresh - quite the opposite. McKnight has figured out a way to make his gospel-flavored contemporary urban soul sound fresh, mainly by keeping the focus on the songs. There's nothing extraneous on Back at One: all 13 songs are given clean presentations, and he blesses them with impassioned performances.
Brian McKnight song of the month will be a monthly pick of a song from the large selection of songs that Brian has recorded which I thought will go nicely with a particular month. It’s June currently and I thought that the song One Last Cry is a perfect fit for this month. During this time, in 1999 he has released his most successful album Back at One which sold in more than 3 million copies. Back at One is also one of 4 albums made by Brian which has reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart. While signed for Motown records, Brian also released a seasonal album, Bethlehem, which obviously contained Christmas themed songs and music, reinterpretations of popular Christmas songs made by Brian.
