A very brief part (1–2 seconds) of the last movement of Symphony No. 4 can be heard in the opening of Pink Floyd's song, "Wish You Were Here" (1975), taken from the album of the same name. It was recorded from a radio broadcast via a car radio. 4 is used as a soundtrack for Osamu Tezuka's experimental film "The Legend of the Forest" (1987). The film was not completed, only the first and fourth movement were finished.
