Overview (current section).
Exclusive Prime pricing. man from two worlds - Chico Hamilton, featuring the unique Charles Lloyd and his compositions, revealed the Hamilton mastery of contemporary post-bop drumming and outstanding musicianship that for admirers Charles Lloyd's music contributes greatly to the easy enjoyment of this disc. It is little short of amazing that this drummer has from the 1940s has evolved his drumming through the development of Jazz into the first decade of the 21st Century. Born in September 1921, that I believe makes him age 89. Hats off to Mr. Hamilton, a truly great and inspiring Jazz musician.

This album actually combines two Chico Hamilton releases, namely Man from Two Worlds and Passin' Thru. There is great compositional range on this album, even though nine out the ten tunes were written by a single author (saxophonist Charles Lloyd). Some of these compositions spin off on an avant-garde tangent, while others are more direct and harmonically familiar. The title track is basically an extended jam, though there is a Monk-like main theme that is used to begin and end the tune.
