This two-fer from Collectables features a pair of out of print Herbie Mann LPs: Brazil: Once Again and Sunbelt. Originally issued in 1978 and 1979, respectively, these 12 smooth jazz/pop tracks include "Watermelon Man," "The Closer I Get to You," and "Let's Stay Together. In 1978 for this LP he performed music of contemporary Brazil with a bigger accent on its pop music than on its jazz. With Pat Rebillot contributing arrangements and his keyboard work, the music is listenable but somewhat forgettable.

Exclusive Prime pricing. Being a tremendous fan of Herbie Mann's, I've long looked forward to the re-issue of these albums. The first album on this two-on-one CD is Brazil Again. If for no other reason, get this for the incredibly engaging tune "Oh How I Want to Love Yo. Herbie first penned this for an album he did called "The Glory Of Love. The treatment here is incredible. The percussion percolates, while Herbie takes a brief solo. This is followed by pianist and long time Family of Mann member Pat Rebillot. Soon after Herbie returns for a more extended solo.

This is a Herbie Mann discography. Mann spent his early years recording for a number of jazz oriented record labels, and signed with Atlantic Records in 1961. He recorded with them through the 1960s and 1970s, including their subsidiary Cotillion Records, where he ran his own imprint, Embryo Records, in the 1970s, for his records as well as other musicians. Mann also ran two independent record labels, Herbie Mann Music in the 1980s, and during the 1990s, Kokopelli Records. Minor reissues are not noted.
