Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain is the second studio album by American indie rock band Pavement. The album also saw original drummer Gary Young replaced by Steve West. It was a UK Top 20 hit upon release, although it was not so successful in the US charts.
Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: LA's Desert Origins is a double album by Pavement released on October 26, 2004. It contains the band's second album, Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (1994) in its entirety, as well as 37 of the band's other songs from that era, 25 of which (the entire second disc) were previously unreleased.
About Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. Unlike their debut album, Pavement channeled classic rock & roll influences for their followup album and immediately were recognized by Rolling Stone’s Magazine for into a real band, gushing with almost insultingly gorgeous melodies. Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. By drawing on so many different influences, Pavement discovered its own distinctive voice as a band on Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, creating a vibrant, dynamic, emotionally resonant album that stands as a touchstone of underground rock in the '90s and one of the great albums of its decade.
Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" is a non stop album of great songs. From start to finish, every song on it is great and different. Though a great 90s band such as Nirvana or Dinosaur Jr can release great albums, it takes just a bit more to create what Pavement create. While every song on the album is great, there are also no repeats. Every song has it's own flavour and each one is wonderful. Though every song is really good, the first three tracks open the album incredibly and "Filmore Jive" is an amazing way to close the album.

Pavement’s second album Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain may be the definitive 1990s indie-rock record, in large part because its lyrical wit and low-key melodic grace feel so tossed-off and casual. The band projected a defiant effortlessness that still sounds incredibly cool today, even without the context of knowing they were deliberately sidestepping the possibility of becoming the next Nirvana and dodging a sophomore slump after their 1992 debut, Slanted & Enchanted, was immediately canonized by music critics. Malkmus sprinkles his songs with homages to every corner of his impeccable record collection, with overt nods to Dave Brubeck on the instrumental 5-4 Unity and to Buddy Holly’s Everyday in the verses of the riffy opening track Silence Kit. But as much as the band calls back to music from the past, it never feels like pastiche or a game of spot-the-references.
