The discography of The Roots, an American hip hop band, consists of fourteen solo studio albums, three collaborative studio albums, three compilation albums, two extended plays, and two live albums. The Roots began performing in 1989 as The Square Roots with rapper Black Thought and drummer Questlove. Rapper Malik . and bassist Leonard Hubbard joined the band in 1991. Over its history, Questlove and Black Thought have always remained with The Roots while their lineup of backing musicians has changed.

Recently, Jah Roots, recorded their upcoming album, entitled “JOY,” (Release date: 4/18) at Lion & Fox Studios, in Washington, . which is known internationally as America’s preeminent reggae recording studio. Once in the studio they were joined by legendary reggae guitarist, “The British Hendrix” himself, Junior Marvin – who served as lead guitarist for Bob Marley & The Wailers from ’77-’80. He contributed guitar on four of the album’s tracks!

The band was active from 2001 to 2009. They released several albums under the independent label GanJah Records, with a local and international following  . 2009 break up, Indefinite hiatus. In Spring 2009, the band announced it was on "Indefinite Hiatus. Jah Roots initially promoted itself with free record distribution to build a wider audience base and increase concert attendance. we were able to put our music up for free download online.

Jah Roots recorded its first album, Steppin Out Of Babylon in 2002. In 2005 they released the albums More Herbs for the Youth and Babylon Weak Heart w/ Baddaflexx. Their fourth album titled Crucial was released in 2006, and was a Billboard Charts Top 100 Reggae album as well as being listed in the "Top Ten Reggae Albums of 2007" on the island of Guam. We gave away thousands of CDs this way and it really made a huge difference in the attendance at our live shows and then when we were actually able to put out our first real album Crucial.

Tony Roots born Anthony Stultz grew up in the hills of cool, cool Mandeville Jamaica where he was schooled and learnt the necessary music skills to enhance his musical ability. He then migrated to the . to further academic studies pursue his musical career. With numerous vocal recordings for various companies/producers, from the late 1980's to present, Tony Roots has been acknowledged across Europe and has gained world wide recognition for his prolific song writing abilities and the sheer originality of it's lyrical content and vocal delivery style.
