Dante XXI is the tenth studio album by the Brazilian metal band Sepultura, released in 2006 through SPV Records. It is a concept album based on the three sections of Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy; Inferno (hell), Purgatorio (purgatory) and Paradiso (paradise). This is the last album to feature Igor Cavalera on drums. Dante XXI was originally titled "Dante 05", but was changed when it became clear that the album would not be released by the end of 2005

Released in 2006, DANTE XXI was the tenth full-length album by Brazil’s Sepultura, a concept album based on Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy. It was the last release to feature Igor Cavalera on drums. Videos were made for two of the album’s best songs – "Convicted in Life" and "Ostia – the latter featuring a moving violin solo. Band leader/main composer Andreas Kisser joined the band as lead guitarist in 1987 in time to influence their second album, SCHIZOPHRENIA

Dante XXI" was originally titled "Dante 05", but being released in 2006 and not in 2005, the name was changed. Scratch the Surface" (Sick of It All cover) (02:35) is included on the tribute album Our Impact Will Be Felt: A Tribute to Sick of It All (2007). Convicted in Life (demo)" (03:17) was released in the March 2006 issue of Revolver magazine (on stands January 10) as part of their "Revolver Bootleg Series.

In that vein Dante XXI is Sepultura at their most ambitious, not only because they choose Dante’s Divine Comedy as an inspiration for this concept album, but because they decide to adapt it into a modern, 21st-century context. Challenging job to say the least, only here Sepultura deliver, not just lyrically (Green has done a great job here) but also musically
