Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko (9 March 1814 – 10 March 1861) was an Ukrainian poet, writer, artist, public and political figure, as well as folklorist and ethnographer. Shevchenko is also known for many masterpieces as a painter and an illustrator.

It consists of two concerts. The first took place on 18 November 1981 at the Ukrainian National Home (Taras Shevchenko) in the East Village of New York City, and features 9 tracks. The second took place at the Reading Festival on 30 August 1998, and features 11 tracks.
