The second of five LPs from the Australian Swaggie label to reissue all of the early recordings led by cornetist Red Nichols has 12 titles plus four alternates taken from six sessions from 1927-1928. With the exception of the last two titles, Nichols utilizes groups ranging from seven to ten musicians. His writing for trumpet trios (that also include Leo McConville and Manny Klein) results in many memorable choruses that really spark the ensembles.
