Gordon Lightfoot (born November 17, 1938) is a Canadian singer-songwriter who achieved international success in folk, folk-rock, and country music. He is often referred to as Canada's greatest songwriter and is known internationally as a folk-rock legend. Lightfoot's discography comprises 19 studio albums, three live albums, 16 greatest hits albums and 46 singles.
Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, who turned 80 last November, is writing songs for the first time in years, with a new album on the horizon. In an article published in Toronto’s City News, Lightfoot said that he’s quit smoking and that action rekindled his interest in songwriting. He said that the new album, his first in 15 years, will be out later this year or in 2020. Some of the songs, he said, were written and recorded years ago but he’d forgotten about them until he came across some homemade CDs while housecleaning.
