Dream of the Blue Moth" (2004) This CD represents the harvest of twelve years (1990-2002) of Sylvi's collaboration with partner and filmmaker Antero Alli and features seventeen tracks of songs and music from his films "Hysteria", "Tragos", "Fairy" and "The Drivetime", as well as, his intermedia theatre productions of "Hungry Ghosts of Albion" and "Requiem For A Friend". Instrumentation includes accordian, ukeline, electric guitar, cello, trombone, drums, electronics and organ.

Sylvi Alli has started her artistic career with classical piano, but soon she turned into painting (1976-1993) and since 1995 she began singing. Her discography includes several solo CDs and soundtracks for theater and film, which feature also underground movies directed by Sylvi's husband Antero Alli (Sylvi is also acting in many of Antero's films). They both run Vertical Pool Productions, an intermedia arts group. And on the top of this, Sylvi Alli is also designing and handcrafting original jewelry on her LunarMuse shop.

This, however, is just the beginning of the pretensions layered throughout The Dream of the Blue Turtles. Only twice does he delve into straightforward love songs - the lovely measured "Consider Me Gone" and the mournful closer, "Fortress Around Your Heart" - preferring to consider love in the abstract ("If You Love Somebody Set Them Free," one of his greatest solo singles, and the childish, faux-reggae singalong "Love Is the Seventh Wave"), write.

Dream of the Blue Moth is a compilation of neo-gothic folk songs, originally, in fact, intended for the screen, The screen in fact, of film producer Antero Alli, Sylvi’s Finnish husband whose films sound as though they could be a dark and highly subversive alternativer to most of the saccharine Hollywood fare that is on offer. The opening tracks, Invocation and Outside Woman, could have been something straight out of the Weird Sisters from Macbeth and the album closes with the almost petulant declarations of doom so typical of Janusz in the earlier Engelsstaub albums. There is quite an ethnic mix to some of the songs – for instance, the album features a Russsian ballad on 12 with Peri’s Song, where Sylvi sings in Russian. There is also and almost-forgetten rendition of a medieval folk song on track 6 with Salve Virgo Viginum, though it sounds much more like a hymn.
