Aerial Ruin, based in Portland, OR is the primarily acoustic solo project of Erik Moggridge whose current and former bands include Old Grandad, Drift of a Curse and the late eighties/early nineties thrash/death metal band Epidemic. Moggridge also serves as a guest r with Seattle's doom duo Bell Witch, performing and recording on select songs and occasions. September and October 2015 saw Aerial Ruin touring in Sweden and central Europe in support of the new album ash of your cares.
Aerial Ruin will be spreading a delicate veil of acoustic folk up and down the left coast come December. Fresh off a European tour with Galacian forest folk troubadours Sange de Muerdago, Aerial Ruin (aka Erik Moggridge) recently released Ash of Your Cares, a soothing acoustic folk album that often sounds like sun-dappled blend of Agalloch, Nechochwen, and Pink Floyd. If you're lucky enough to reside on the correct side of the country, be sure to catch Aerial Ruin on tour this December with a bunch of amazing bands like Wrekmeister Harmonies, Nest, Jessica Way,.
Aerial Ruin’s recently released Nameless Sun beautifully follows the tradition set forth on its predecessor Ash of Your Cares in offering up eerie acoustic confessionals that can raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Moggridge plays guitar with the precision of a spider slowly building its web; everything falls into place delicately yet with a brilliant and focused grace. If the songs themselves weren’t enough, Moggridge’s voice seems to shift between realms as he sings. Aerial Ruin will perform on Saturday, April 21 at the 013 venue. Ben Handleman, September 2017.
Aerial Ruin is the mostly acoustic solo project of Erik Moggridge. An album that caught our breath. from the very first listen, Mirror Reaper will be presented in its entirety for the first time ever on Saturday, 21 April at the Koepelhal, including contributions from Erik Moggridge aka Aerial Ruin. Accompanying the performance will be a full length, spellbinding film inspired by the album and created by director Taylor Bednarz. If you’re late to this particularly sombre party, it’s not too late to catch up.
