For aught I know, the first sentence means that I will live there for a long time and do not know when I'll be back. In the second one, it is juste temporary, like I'll go study there for 1 year so I'll be living there. To my mind, the first implies a future intention to live there, as if you have just made up your mind. We would have to have full details of the circumstances - the context- to get a better idea of which way of expressing the future is most natural. I think you are thinking of the use the continuous present to express a temporary or short term stay, rather than the simple present which is used for a more permanent situation.
