Go to Heaven is the eleventh studio album by rock band the Grateful Dead, released April 28, 1980 on Arista Records. It is the band's first album with keyboardist Brent Mydland. Go to Heaven was both the third Grateful Dead studio album in a row and the last for over seven years. It was also the third in a row, and the last, to use an outside producer (Gary Lyons).

Time has somewhat mellowed the general disdain that critics and Deadheads alike leveled at Go to Heaven upon its release in May of 1980. Granted, none of these readings come close to their perfunctory live counterparts. However, that argument holds true for a vast majority of the Dead's studio catalog - which had now grown to include 16 albums. Additionally, this disc marked the beginning of keyboardist Brent Mydland's tenure - who had joined the band in the spring of the previous year and would remain for a decade.

Go to Heaven, to me, is a mediocre album. It contains few great tracks, but few bad tracks. But unlike some of The Dead’s previous releases, but similar to some, many of its songs are fabulous live tunes. Alabama Getaway can not be anymore exciting on the stage. And Althea is also a delight to listen to. In fact, before this album was recorded, almost each song was a common live performance. Making this album, his Grateful Dead debut. Not to get into a life story, but prior to Keith Godchaux’s replacement, Brent played in Bob Weir’s solo effort. He would open the occasional Dead concert with Weir.
