Chicago native Kevin Drumm manages to coax sounds out of his setup that are less like what one normally associates with the instrument than anyone this side of Keith Rowe. It could be argued, in fact, that Drumm is one of Rowe's most direct descendants and a very fascinating scion indeed. Generally speaking, Drumm's approach takes one of two tacks on this recording.

Loud is an album by the rock group Half Japanese, first released on the Armageddon label in 1981. The album was the band's first release since the line-up was expanded with four new members (two saxophone players, a guitarist and a drummer) and contains elements of free jazz. The album includes a cover version of The Doors' "The Spy". It was reissued on compact disc in 2004 on Drag City together with the Horrible EP as Loud and Horrible.

I’m pretty sure that it was primarily directed at Lobelia Sackville-Baggins, who couldn’t wait for him to move out of Bag End so she could claim the property for herself. Basically, he only knows half of the people, and only knows them a bit, and he only enjoys half of their company, but not that much.
