Prior to writing Family Tree, Oh Land had a ton of music in the works and was even writing a script for a film to go along with the new releases. However, in the midst of her divorce, Fabricius says all the music suddenly seemed irrelevant, and she was forced to start from scratch. The LP was produced by Thomas Bartlett, who co-produced Florence + The Machine’s High as Hope last year. Fabricius brought her completed songs to him in a studio in New York, and together the two of them worked to find each song’s distinct sound. Family Tree is slated to drop Friday, May 3, but you can stream the full album exclusively on Billboard today.
