Teknobrat is Thomas J. Stépien, a Montreal native living in Ottawa. Aside from his own releases, he produced many releases on numerous reputable techno/house labels. Musically active since 1987, Stépien studied trumpet and piano and has worked for many years at ABM Records, a dance music record shop in Ottawa. He finds inspiration in early Detroit techno sounds, as well as the late '80s/early '90s Chicago acid house and Ghetto Trax sounds.
