Lena Corinne "Lee" Morse (née Taylor; November 30, 1897 – December 16, 1954) was an American jazz and blues singer-songwriter, composer, guitarist, and actress. Morse's greatest popularity was in the 1920s and early 1930s as a torch singer, although her career began around 1917 and continued until her death in 1954. Morse was known for her strong, deep singing voice and vocal range, which often belied her petite frame.
A history of Jazz before 1930. This site contains over 1000 songs from this era in Real Audio 3 format, as well as hundreds of biographies and discographies of Jazz musicians. Many of her recordings especially those released under the name of Lee Morse and her Bluegrass Boys feature accompaniment by a small jazz band that often included some of the best White jazz musicians of the era. Morse was an excellent and unique singer. She had great range and her style of singing combined Blues and Jazz phrasing as well as almost yodel-like passages. Pathé Actuelle 21143 Perfect 11216. All Alone Am I" lyrics. All Alone Am I". All alone am I ever since your goodbye All alone with just a beat of my heart People all around but I don't hear a sound Just the lonely beating of my heart. No use in holding other hands For I'd be holding only emptiness No use in kissing other lips For I'd be thinking just of your caress. All alone am I ever since your goodbye All alone with just a beat of my heart People all around but I don't hear a sound Just the lonely beating of my heart
