Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted is a 1977 reunion album from The Animals, billed here as The Original Animals. This was a reunion of the five original Animals from the group's first incarnation - Eric Burdon, Alan Price, Hilton Valentine, Chas Chandler, and John Steel, in their first recording sessions, (and save for a one-off concert in 1968, their first musical project at all) since 1965. Bassist Chandler produced the effort using his Barn Records team.

It was released in May 1965, on Columbia, and was the group's last album with the full participation of Alan Price until the release of the original quintet's 1977 reunion album, Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted. It reached No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart and remained there for 26 weeks. Ark (The Animals album). Ark is an album by the original members of The Animals. Released in 1983 on . Records, it was the second and last reunion attempt of the band's initial lineup.

The Animals were known for their gritty, bluesy sound and deep-voiced frontman Eric Burdon, as exemplified by their signature song and transatlantic No. 1 hit single, "House of the Rising Sun", as well as by hits such as "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", "It's My Life", "I'm Crying" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". The band balanced tough, rock-edged pop singles against rhythm and blues-orientated album material and were part of the British Invasion of the US. The Animals underwent numerous personnel changes in the mid-1960s. the US Billboard Hot 100. The original lineup of Burdon, Alan Price, Chas Chandler, Hilton Valentine and John Steel reunited for a one off benefit concert in Newcastle in 1968. They later had brief comebacks in 1975 and 1983. There have been several partial regroupings of the original era members since then under various names. The Animals were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. Cut 11 years after the Animals' original lineup recorded their last LP and six years before their more well-remembered reunion tour, this oft-overlooked album is just short of a lost classic; it lacks the intensity of their 1983 studio effort, Ark, but it is more substantial musically than that album and fits in very neatly with their preceding work, as though. they'd scarcely skipped a beat.

The Animals "disintegrated" long before they should have. This reunion album gives us a glimpse of what could have been. Com selection gives us a eerie sample of what could have been. I actually worked in a record store (remember those?) when this album came out in the late 70s and it sank without a trace. Weird label, no promotion, no tour, no nothing. And I just love "Last Clean Shirt," a great cover of a minor European hit which itself was a cover of an even more obscure Redbird Records single.
