Marc Cohn is the self-titled debut album released in 1991 by American singer-songwriter Marc Cohn. 38 on the Billboard 200 Chart. It was RIAA certified gold in 1992 and was certified platinum in 1996. The album is known for the hit single "Walking in Memphis". Burning the Daze, Marc Cohn's third album, finally appeared in the spring of 1998, nearly five years after the release of his second, Rainy Season. Although he was out of the spotlight for many years, he didn't use his sabbatical to explore new music. Essentially, Burning the Daze follows the same musical pattern as his first two albums - it's adult contemporary pop with slight folk and country influences. Cohn tends to polish his productions a little too much, which lessens the melodic impact of the songs somewhat.

Burning the Daze strikes closer to the high mark set by his 1991 debut, his sultry vocals and well-crafted songs attesting to the set's careful gestation. Guitarist John Leventhal, a not-quite-secret weapon on the prior albums, is officially aboard as co-producer, an apt choice given his contributions to other recent singer-songwriters' studio work, bringing his versatility and musicianship to bear on a solid new clutch of Cohn originals  . Marc Cohn delivers as always an easy to listen to album with some catchy tunes, highly recommended. Track one is my favourite.
