John Mayall: все альбомы, включая Me and My Woman, Nobody Told Me, Live at the Marquee 1969 и другие.
John Mayall is just weeks away from his 82nd birthday but shows no signs of letting up at this, the last night of three at Ronnie Scott’s. When Mayall returns to guitar for a blues rockin’ Nature’s Disappearing from 1970 album USA Union, then switches to Hammond XK-3C for Sonny Landreth’s New Orleans-styled Congo Square, it’s a moment, with the audience greeting Mayall’s Hammond solo with roof-raising cheers. Athas plays searing guitar and Mayall is back on Roland keyboard for pianist Walter Davis’ excellent slow blues Tears Came Rolling Down, before Mayall announces our final piece to audience shouts of No!
Looking Back is the seventh album released by John Mayall in August 1969 by Decca Records. The album features songs by both John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and John Mayall solo work. The album reached No. 79 on the Billboard 200. Confusingly, there are two different albums with the title "Looking Back": a Decca UK release as a single album (SKL 5010) and a Decca Germany (issued by TELDEC) release as a double album (DS 3104/1-2). Later issues on CD would use the Deram label.
John Mayall, OBE (born 29 November 1933) is an English blues singer, guitarist, organist and songwriter, whose musical career spans over sixty years. In the 1960s, he was the founder of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, a band which has counted among its members some of the most famous blues and blues rock musicians. Born in Macclesfield, Cheshire in 1933, Mayall was the son of Murray Mayall, a guitarist and jazz music enthusiast.
John Mayall, OBE (born 29 November 1933, Macclesfield, Cheshire, England) is an English blues singer, guitarist, organist and songwriter, whose musical career spans over fifty years.
He later recorded an album John Mayall Plays John Mayall live at Klooks Kleek in London but it too failed to sell in large numbers. It did however show the way that things were heading. Eric Clapton left the Yardbirds to join Mayall in October 1965 and early the following year, they cut the brilliant album Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton. Originally based in Manchester, Mayall moved to London in 1963 on the advice of British blues godfather Alexis Korner, who thought a living could be made playing the blues in the bigger city. Tracing a path through his various lineups of the ’60s is a daunting task.

John Mayall's position in the British Blues world of the 1960's was akin to Art Blakey's position in the North American jazz scene. Both were gifted discoverers and developers of talent in addition to being notable musicians. At various times, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, John McVie, and Jack Bruce were members of Mayall's ever changing band. His live album The Turning Point was the refined result of this risk taking. Mayall eliminated the drummer in his new mix. Perhaps this was partially inspired by the presence of the talented bassist Steve Thompson, a deeply jazz influenced musician who provided a surprisingly flexible foundation for this innovative band. All compositions are by John Mayall except for three composed by Mayall and Thompson. The 2001 sound re-mastering of this 1969 concert is excellent.
Here's an insightful look into John's start playing the blues when he was living in London in the 1960's. Take a glimpse into his exclusive interview at the The GRAMMY Museum with GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli back in June. Enjoy! 144. 16.
