At the same time we were like, ‘We need to do some P-Funk-sounding shit. We wanted to make a real c album. Just get really deep and go out there with it. I was a huge P-Funk fan back in the day. The Chronic is the solo debut album of American hip hop artist Dr. Dre, released December 15, 1992, on his own record label Death Row Records, and distributed by Priority Records. Recording sessions for the album took place in June 1992 at Death Row Studios in Los Angeles and at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood. The album is named after a slang term for high-grade marijuana, and its cover is an homage to Zig-Zag rolling papers.
Here Dre established his patented G-funk sound: fat, blunted c beats, soulful backing vocals, and live instruments in the rolling basslines and whiny synths. What's impressive is that Dre crafts tighter singles than his inspiration, George Clinton - he's just as effortlessly funky, and he has a better feel for a hook, a knack that improbably landed gangsta rap on the pop charts. But none of The Chronic's legions of imitators were as rich in personality, and that's due in large part to Dre's monumental discovery, Snoop Doggy Dogg

2001 is the second studio album by American rapper and producer Dr. It was released on November 16, 1999, by Aftermath Entertainment as the follow-up to his 1992 debut album The Chronic. The record was produced primarily by Dr. Dre and Mel-Man, as well as Lord Finesse, and features several guest contributions from fellow American rappers such as The . Hittman, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Xzibit, Eminem, and Nate Dogg
When Dr Dre left NWA, he wanted to make his mark independently, and he did it in a big way. Dr Dre was already one of the best producers, and rappers around during this time, so with the financial backing of Suge Knight, and Deathrow Records, he made one of the best, maybe the best cd ever released, and most iconic rap, blockbuster smash cd ever! This cd is truly legendary, as it is truly gangster, and we get a good understanding of a day, in the life, of a gangster from the streets of LA.
