Fritz Hauser is a Minimalist. He understands that deliberate restriction gives rise to abundance. A crescendo that swells steadily blossoms into a complex sonic cosmos and ultimately dies down again. Fritz Hauser, Jahrgang 1953, studierte an der Musik-Akademie seiner Heimatstadt Basel klassisches Schlagzeug und gehörte von 1972 bis 1980 der Artrock-Gruppe Circus an, mit der er internationale Tourneen unternahm und vier Alben einspielte. Eigene Solo-Programme für Schlagzeug führten ihn ab 1983 in die ganze Welt; er hat zahlreiche Werke anderer Komponisten uraufgeführt, die zum Teil eigens für ihn geschrieben wurden, etwa von John Cage, Franz Koglmann, Bun-Ching Lam, Pauline Oliveros oder Robert Suter.
