Polly Bolton is a folk singer from Leamington Spa, United Kingdom who had a pure and very expressive voice. She began singing professionally in 1970 in an acoustic folk-rock band, Dando Shaft. In the 1970's she worked in soul and folk bands both in the United States and Great Britain, including Bert Jansch's Conundrum. She has also sung with Steve Knightly on his solo album, Track of Words. In 1989 Polly began working with two Shropshire based musicians, John Shepherd, of The Albion Band and Steve Dunachie, ex-professor of the Guildhall School of Music. They toured and recorded for 10 years, producing some of the finest albums in the traditional music genre.

Polly Bolton is a highly expressive singer whose work with Dando Shaft brought her to some degree of attention. She had originally been attending college with the goal of becoming a zoologist, but was sidetracked into the music business. After the breakup of Dando Shaft, she moved on to Blue Aquarius, a big-budget soul-fusion project, only to have that evaporate immediately. She worked periodically as a vocalist, with Kevin Dempsey and About Time, but mainly concentrated on running a plant nursery. In 1989 she recorded her first solo album, No Going Back, and formed the Polly Bolton Band with John Shepherd and Steve Dunachie. She has developed an interest in ethnic vocal methods and is designing voice workshops.
