The Andy Williams Christmas Album is the first Christmas holiday album released by singer Andy Williams and his twelfth studio album overall. It was issued by Columbia Records in 1963, and it would prove to be the first of eight Christmas albums released by Williams. Though it was also the album that introduced Williams' perennial holiday classic "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year", Columbia instead opted to release Williams' cover of "White Christmas" as the album's promotional single at the time.

I have never, ever seen a copy of Andy Williams classic swingin' song "Happy Holiday" on 7" 45 or even an EP. Does anyone know if that song was ever released outside of an LP version? Thanking you in advance and Happy Holidays!!

Andy's first singles. Andy Williams' earliest solo work was done at indie CADENCE records. The ten songs on THE IRRESISTIBLE ANDY WILLIAMS were all charting 'A' sides for that label. 12-59 - VILLAGE OF ST. BERNADETTE (in stereo here). 3-60 - wake me when IT's over. 4-61 - THE BILBAO SONG (in stereo here). Missing from this small collection of Archie Bleyer produced singles are: ( 4-56 - walk hand in hand. 8-56 - canadian sunset. 12-58 - the hawaiian wedding song. 12-60 - (In The Summertime) YOU DON'T WANT MY LOVE. 12-62 - twilight time. When the last CADENCE single was issued, Andy Williams had already moved on to COLUMBIA records. This DELTA brand CD is of fine sound quality.

Featuring classic holiday tunes such as "White Christmas" and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year", the album was the number one selling Christmas album for 1963 and was certified Gold less than a year after its release. It would eventually achieve Platinum certification in 1986.

Andy Williams was young when he recorded this album. He was a stone’s throw away from having recorded Moon River, so he is especially in good voice here. I have two of his Christmas albums, and I think this is the better one of the two that I have. The orchestration and the background vocals are very good here, and for a re-mastered album the sound is extremely clear. I would have to say this is one I'd need to listen to in small doses; a whole CD of Andy got to be a bit much, even though I did like the song selections.
