For the many who witnessed The Beatles’ early appearances on British television, this song is synonymous with those exciting era–defining times. For their debut album, John recorded his vocal in one take at the end of a marathon recording session on February 11th 1963. In July 1963, ‘Twist And Shout’ became the title track of the band’s first EP to be released in the UK. According to the advert on the front of New Musical Express, it was The record you’ve been asking for. A week after Twist And Shout was released it made the EP best-seller list and a week after that topped the same chart staying there for ten weeks.

The Beatles continued to perform Twist And Shout until the end of their August 1965 US tour, which culminated in a performance at the Cow Palace, San Francisco, on 31 August. An incomplete recording of the song, taken from a radio report of the show, survives on bootleg. Twist And Shout was recorded on 11 February 1963 after 10pm, the time the Please Please Me album session was scheduled to have ended. Producer George Martin wanted a show-stopper with which to close the album, and he had just one song in mind.

Twist and Shout" is a song sung by The Beatles, originally written by Phil Medley and Bert Russell. It was originally titled Shake It Up, Baby and recorded by the Top Notes and then covered by the Isley Brothers. It was covered by the Beatles with John Lennon on the lead vocals and originally released on their first album Please Please Me. The song was covered by the Mamas and Papas (in the style of a ballad) in 1967 on their album Deliver, and on a film soundtrack by Cliff Richard.

It was originally recorded by the Top Notes, but it became a chart hit as a single by the Isley Brothers in 1962. The song has been covered by several artists, including the Beatles on their first album Please Please Me (1963), the Tremeloes in 1962, and the Who in 1970 and 1984. Twist and Shout was eventually reissued in stereo in the 1970's, bearing catalogue number ST-6054 to denote stereo audio; all tracks were in stereo except for "Love Me Do", ". I Love You", and "She Loves You", which remained mono. The stereo reissue is considered to be the definitive version.

Twist And Shout ‎(LP, Album, Comp, Mono).

Twist and Shout is one of those songs that you hear loud and clear just by reading certain lyrics: 'Well shake it, shake it, shake it, BABY now!' See? Here's another - 'Well here it is Merry Christmas, everybody's having fun'. Kip from Sussex, WiI'm a teenager and I love the Beatles.
