Miss Riboet (1900-1965) and her husband Tio Tek Djien (1895-1975) established the famous operetta society Orion in 1925. Performances usually consisted of krontjong (keroncong) accompanied by piano. Although based on traditional Bangsawan and Komedi Stamboel, they introduced several changes, mainly to short action-themes plays.

Miss Riboet's Orion, originally known as the Orion Opera, was a theatrical troupe active in the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) in the 1920s and early 1930s. Established by the husband and wife team Tio Tek Djien and Miss Riboet, the company travelled throughout the Indies and performed various acts, particularly those with action scenes.
