Poor Righteous Teachers was a hip hop group from Trenton, New Jersey, founded in 1989. Often referred to as PRT by its fans, Poor Righteous Teachers is known as a pro-Black conscious hip hop group, with musical content inspired by the teachings of the Nation of Gods and Earths. Wise Intelligent, as the lead MC, is the most visible and well known member of the group. Culture Freedom provides backing vocals and production, and Father Shaheed serves as a DJ and producer.

Rare & Unreleased (2005). Album by Poor Righteous Teachers. Steady Slangin (Project Mix).

TITLE added to MP3 cart. Poor Righteous Teachers. Exclusive Prime pricing.

In 2001, Poor Righteous Teachers dropped the rare underground release Declaration of Independence PRT had a short feud with rapper YZ over reels of tapes that YZ would not give back to its owner, PR.

Poor Righteous Teachers never really have or probably will get the shine they deserve. Rare and Unreleased is a step in the right direction. I mean how many of you fans have really given them a lot of thought in per say the last half a year? Not many most likely, regardless of how they feel. With all these reissues of early 90’s stuff, this release was much needed. Tracking down some of the earlier Poor Righteous singles can be a pain in the ass and most likely will result in 15-dollar price tags on Gemm. A reissue of Nobody Move would be so appropriate to compliment this fine compilation. There hasn’t been much of it obviously in a long time besides that Wise Intelligent solo album that came out in like 95. Although rumors have surfaced, he’s set to drop a new one shortly after this compilation is released. Anyway grab this if you’re a fan already and if your not check a piece of hip-hop history out.

This compilation sounds like garbage. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have a few of these on CD. But it's been hastily assembled from what sounds like poor sources...and not EQ'ed or mastered. It is simply not a good product. If you buy it, be aware you'll want to try different EQs on your system for each and every song, they aren't going to all sound good with the same settings. Sadly.
