In this album, the first cut, "Girl From the North Country", Cash and Dylan do a duet. The harmony was atrocious, but it was fun to listen to, just the same; because you knew that it was two friends doing something fun together "for the record", if you'll pardon the pun. Prefigured by the two songs- Down Along the Cove and I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight"-that closed 1967’s John Wesley Harding. Nashville Skyline is an album of unpretentious country music sung by Dylan in a low croon. Recording sessions were held at Columbia Studio A in Nashville, Tennessee between the 13th and 18th of February, although most of the takes used for the album were cut on the 13th and 14th.

Bob Dylan's "Nashville Skyline" was a tour de force when released in 1969. It helped usher in country-rock as well as help diversify Nashville's music scene.
