In 2000, Nigo quietly produced and released an album, called Ape Sounds. This was well before he was a cult figure in the United States: Nigo was still establishing himself in the . fashion scene in Harajuku, and was around half a decade away from earning loyal A-list fans, including Pharrell and Robin Williams  . His songs Monster and Freediving nearly preëmpt . s coy pop-rock style, which would début two years later, and the solar fuzz of Too Much heralds the bright tones of Kid Cudi, a rapper who, years later, would get his start working at Bape’s New York shop.

Too Much is the first album by Berlin-based indie punk artist Bonaparte. It was officially released by Bonaparte and Staatsakt label in 2008, although a handmade version was already being sold at their concerts since 2007. All songs written, produced & performed by Tobias Jundt, except where otherwise noted. Do You Want to Party" – 1:14. Who Took the Pill?" – 2:31. Anti Anti" (T. Jundt, J. Suske) – 3:15.

The trendy Japanese artist Nigo began his career drumming but used his later success as a clothing designer to catapult his music career forward, resulting in a prestigious opportunity to record for James Lavelle's Mo' Wax label. In addition to being the drummer for the Japanese punk band Toyko Sex Pistols, Nigo worked with fashion shoots where he would both DJ and occasionally style the shoots. The resulting album, Ape Sounds, closely resembles Lavelle's own project as . Ape Sounds drew heavily from hip-hop and punk for its general aesthetic, with a high-tech production style to help bring an overall motif to the many assembled takes on the two somewhat opposing genres, along with hints of modern sound collage in the style of DJ Shadow.
