Why did the Self-Portrait 2lp got voted by poll for Dylan& worst album at that time when it was the best impression on him? I guess they pulled it to pieces for it& conceptional work - not being a "Hit Album" and the featured country musicians which were outdated in 1970. Just another example how hard critics can fail. On his next album, he decided to experiment by taking on a co-writer, theater director Jacques Levy. While the songs on Blood on the Tracks were highly personal, these new songs were largely about characters, both real and imagined. In a 1978 interview with Playboy, Bob Dylan was asked if he hears songs in his head before he records them. The closest I ever got to the sound I hear in my mind was on individual bands in the Blonde on Blonde album," he said. It's that thin, that wild mercury sound.

The album that started my love of Dylan's music. So many amazing lyrics. But Bob Dylan’s place as one of the world’s greatest artistic figures was elevated further on Thursday when he was named the surprise winner of the Nobel prize in literature for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition. And he’s a very interesting traditionalist, in a highly original way. Not just the written tradition, but also the oral one; not just high literature, but also low literature. Though Dylan is considered by many to be a musician, not a writer, Danius said the artistic reach of his lyrics and poetry could not be put in a single box. I came to realise that we still read Homer and Sappho from ancient Greece, and they were writing 2,500 years ago, she said. They were meant to be performed, often together with instruments, but they have survived, and survived incredibly well, on the book page.

Bobsboots.com Review:
Sometimes, surviving in a ruthless world requires a boot manufacturer to release previously released material. This venue came out a few months earlier under the title Tampa Dee. This digipak is nice enough, though not incredible. The green & maroon color scheme is used extensively and helps to create the fair, but somewhat monotonous aesthetic. The full color images of Dylan on the inside of the package are nice. They chronicle a decade of one of the ultimate survivors of a ruthless world. One show highlight, as has been with several shows in 2002, is the powerful Blowin' In The Wind, with magnificent, soaring harmony vocals. A show surprise was Dickie Betts bringing out his famous Les Paul and playing an extended solo on RDW that brought down the house. Bonus tracks are nicely chosen, but unnecessary on such a jam packed disc.
