You-oo-'ve got the magic touch (woo-oo) It makes me glow so much (oo-woo-oo) It casts a spell, it rings a bell The magic touch. Oh-uh-oh when I feel your charm (woo-oo) It's like a fourth alarm (oo-woo-oo) You make me thrill so much You've got the magic touch. If I go reeling, uh-oh I'm feeling the glow (uh-oh) But where can I go from you. I didn't know too much (woo-oo) And then I felt your touch (oo-woo-oo) And now I've learned I can return The magic touch . Gary LeMel, the longtime film music executive who was once dubbed the "Godfather of the Modern Soundtrack" for his supervision of blockbuster albums including The Big Chill, Ghostbusters and The Bodyguard, died on Saturday at age 80. He is survived by his wife Maddy and three children . Their record killed my album," LeMel told the Los Angeles Times in 1995.
Their record killed my album," says LeMel, and the new rock movement eventually took care of his chances of making it as a singer. I was working Playboy clubs, sometimes doing five shows a night and barely making 300 bucks a week," he says. So, in 1968, LeMel, then just 21, quit performing. He first got a job with a music publisher, then one in artists and repertoire with Neil Bogart's Casablanca Records, and ultimately began working in the music end of the film business. When I heard that Frank was there, I was so scared that I almost couldn't do it," says LeMel, though he had asked Sinatra's daughter Tina-who had collaborated with LeMel on the soundtrack of "Sinatra," the CBS-TV miniseries that aired in 1993-to invite her father. So I introduced him after the first number and that kind of took the heat off me. Then he stayed for the whole show, and that really made me feel great.
