All lyrics from Nemesis Divina album, popular Satyricon songs with tracklist and information about album.

Nemesis Divina (Latin for "divine nemesis") is the third studio album by Norwegian black metal band Satyricon. It was released on 22 April 1996, through Moonfog Productions. The band have described the album as "darker" and "more aggressive" than their previous work.

Satyricon's sound has evolved far beyond Nemesis Divina over the last 20 years. What stands out the most when you go back and listen to the album? The album feels very ferocious, driven and wild. I sense the hunger we had as musicians 20 years ago, and I hear that there is more power than control. We were determined to have a visually very striking and unconventional cover, as befitted Satyricon and the album Nemesis Divina. The fiery and earthy colour tones are fantastic. Are there any plans to perform Nemesis Divina in full on tour or special one-off shows?

All music & lyrics written between autumn 1993 and the winter of 1995, except for the lyrics for "Du Som Hater Gud" written in June 1994 in honour of Satyricon. Lyrics for "The Dawn Of A New Age" from The Book of Revelations.

Nemesis Divina (1996) by Satyricon. Labels: Moonfog, Century Media Records. Genres: Black Metal Members: Sigurd Wongraven (Satyr), Ted Skjellum (Kveldulv), Kjetil Haraldstad (Frost).

But it was Nemesis Divina that lit the touch paper and that is why, despite their oft-stated reservations about engaging in misty-eyed nostalgia, Satyricon will bring the album to Bloodstock this August, giving us a one-off opportunity to relive the moment that black metal came of age. There was never a plan to conquer the world, Satyr avows. But Nemesis Divina was driven by a conquering spirit

Nemesis Divina" was the first Satyricon album I had ever heard. I specifically remember seeing the music video for "Mother North" and thought it was slightly strange. This album is often viewed as one of the greatest, most innovative black metal albums ever crafted, and I definitely agree. However, two years after this, Satyricon's musical direction would take a sharp left turn and they would never create music like this anymore

This pressing is a bit noisy (some distortion only when music is playing, but not too bad.) The mix/master here is WAY better than the re-release. Way more presence and bite to it.

Did all copies of this come with a poster..? It isn't mentioned in the description.

Absolutely classic Norwegian Black metal release. This record is perfect for fans of second wave black metal. Perfectly blends aggression, technical precision and even some minor folk elements into a seamless, well produced masterpiece. This release is the original pressing on Satyr's "Moonfog" label. The later release on Century Black is more common and easier to find.

I was thinking of picking this up but Discogs users seem to agree it’s a poor pressing. Should I hold off? Don’t have the $$ for the OG.

I actually bought this in hope of getting me really interested in the album. But when I played the record, it was very reserved. Lacked any real power at all. I really couldn't believe that this, one of the best records made by the band, was remastered so poorly. It sounds flat and empty I was extremely disappointed with this pressing.
Zan Zan
I agree with the previous reviews. The sound of this version is not great. All were hungry for a vinyl reissue, but no one felt the need of a remasterng -_-
Nuliax Nuliax
Not convinced by this press tbh you really do have to rip it up!!
Nenayally Nenayally
This bootleg really has the original and right sound, and sounds better than the Napalm reissue. The only disadvantage of this bootleg is the xerox innersleeve.

Napalm once again made a blue edition. Yes, but Summoning reissues sound even worse.., more specifically they do not sound. This edition has a very strange remastering, which nobody needs. Drums are in the a**. Power is absent. The original atmosphere is killed. The sound not kicking in, absolutely. This is a vinyl version of the compact disc and nothing else. The vinyl bootleg of this album has more interesting sound.

Anyone aware of 2 Black colored reissues? I could have sworn there was a rare black specifically listed on the website as "First edition" that was limited to 100 copies or so. Sold out quickly. Now there seems to be plenty of black copies. Original term can be found on google but page is gone. Also my receipt shows the same thing"SATYRICON-Nemesis Divina/Limited First Edition BLACK Gatefold Vinyl LP + Poster"

This vinyl re-press sounds great, definitely mastered for vinyl. Its maybe even a bit too conservative - you have to turn the volume up a lot more and probably even need a separate EQ to turn up the bass. But yes - nice dynamic sound and no inner groove distortion, very nicely done re-issue.
Ynonno Ynonno
A worthbuying re-release, with good sound (for a coloured vinyl). The album is a masterpiece, so this is a good chance to get it on LP (if you missed the original one, or you don't want to pay 300 euros for it now). I just don't understand, nor like the absence of the band logo and album title in front.

Are there any first impressions with regard to the sound and/or pressing quality of this reissue (this goes for any vinyl version -- coloured or black)?
Kagrel Kagrel
I got black because this is one of my favorite records and I wanted the best sound. sounds great! real solid tones and everything is well balanced.I also feel like I am hearing some things in it for the first time. well worth it and about time for a reissue on this classic. It being remastered has not hurt it in anyway. I was used to an old century black cd though.
Brakree Brakree
I own this version (black) and it is well worth getting. I am generally weary about "remasters" but the mastering here is amazing and everything is crystal clear with no distortion. The vinyl itself is only 140 gram, but it is mostly flat, quiet, and centered. For the price you really can't ask for more - gatefold jacket, printed inner sleeve, poster and nicely pressed LP with excellent mastering. I recommend it.
Aloo Aloo
Is it just me or does that record in the pictures look really messed up? Like it has ripples running through it. Does something like that play and sound okay? Is it just another color mixed into the silver vinyl, purely appearance, no physical ripples?
Andriodtargeted Andriodtargeted
Same experience here, I have some records (also pressed at Optimal) which also look like this and its just a visual thing - kind of cool actually, the vinyl looks 3D, the grooves are like super clear vinyl but there is a colored grey layer inside the whole thing (hard to explain). It does not affect the sound at all.
Zieryn Zieryn
I have some colored vinyl LPs like that and it's only a visual effect, it doesn't affect the sound.
Pemand Pemand
This bootleg actually sounds much better than the Napalm rerelease...and it is unchanged to the original recording.
