Load is the sixth studio album by the American heavy metal band Metallica, released on June 4, 1996 by Elektra Records in the United States and by Vertigo Records internationally. The album showed more of a hard rock side of Metallica than the band's typical thrash metal style, which alienated much of the band's fanbase. It also featured influences from genres such as Southern rock, blues rock, country rock and alternative rock.

Reload is the seventh studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released on November 18, 1997 by Elektra Records. The album is a follow-up to Load, released the previous year, and Metallica's last studio album to feature bassist Jason Newsted. Reload debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 436,000 copies in its first week. It was certified 3 platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipping three million copies in the United States.

Load was released on June 4, 1996 through Elektra Records, it sold 680,000 units in its first week (making it the biggest opening week for Metallica) and the biggest debut of 1996. Load debuted (and spent four consecutive weeks) at on Billboard 200. The album has sold over five million copies in United States and is certified 5x platinum by the RIAA. Four singles were released in part of the marketing campaign of the album: "Until It Sleeps", "Hero of the Day", "Mama Said", and "King Nothing".

My favourite Metallica album, because it features Metallica in a time of despair; Cliff has died, their brutality and anger in the form of music presented as this album. James' riffage and songwriting is absolutely brutal and the complexity of their songs is unlike never before. The last of the classic trilogy and the end of an era for Metallica.

Every Metallica album ranked from worst to best. By Metal Hammer (Metal Hammer) 2018-10-31T12:22:00Z Metal Hammer. Metallica albums run the gamut from the album that redefined thrash metal to that ill-advised collaboration – here we look back on their back catalogue from worst to best. It's fair to say Metallica albums have been more scrutinised more intensely than pretty much any other metal back catalogue on the planet – but then no other metal band in history has achieved so much.
