Description

From "Aquarello", a live album released in 1986, performed in Lanzarote, one of my neighbour islands

Aquarello was a musical group which blended ambient music and jazz. The trio included keyboardist Hans-Joachim Roedelius, based in Austria, and two Italian musicians, t Fabio Capanni, and saxophonist Nicola Alesini. They were active between 1991 and 1998, recording and releasing three albums. Hans-Joachim Roedelius (1991–1998). Fabio Capanni (1991–1998). Nicola Alesini (1991–1998).

Aquarello' is the 2nd album of ambient/jazz fusion by the trio of Fabio Capanni, Nicola Alesini and Hans-Joachim Roedelius. Originally released in 1998 on All Saints, it is reissued for the first time through Roedelius' own label. It's also Aquarello's final recording as a trio.

Of the 14 tracks on Aquarello, 12 are live recordings. Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Nicola Alesini, and Fabio Capanni performed together at the VI Musica Visual in Lanzarote. The liner notes are in German, so listeners are left with no "graphic interference" as they interpret these atmospheres, textures, and timbres. Roedelius is a sound design genius and has crafted some very different music on this CD. It is definitely e-music, but there are extras. Alesini's saxophones offset the atmospheres.

A haunting, melancholy album, Aquarello is a very different blend of traditional instruments with synthetic sounds. Hans Joachim Roedelius is considered to be one of the pioneers of electronically generated tones, and his discography is fairly extensive. Aquarello is a great disc for rainy days, contemplative moods, for those times when you want to go exploring inside yourself and visit old memories or long forgotten places. Aquarelly is a collaboration work of Hans Joachim Roedelius, Nicola Alesini and Fabio Capanni. 12 out of 14 tracks were recorded live at the VI Music Festival in Lanzarote, in Spain. In this record, Roedelius, using his unique style of playing the piano and keyboards, creates a world of sophisticated contemporary sound patterns that could be applied to define the notion of natural beauty.

This is the 3rd album by the trio. Both "Friendly Game" and "To Cover the Dark" came out prior to the self-titled Aquarello album.
