Rain and Tears" is a song by the Greek band Aphrodite's Child. It was released as a single in 1968 on Mercury. The song was included on the band's 1968 debut studio album End of the World. The song was written by Evangelos Papathanassiou and Boris Bergman on the motives of Pachelbel's Canon. The recording was produced by Pierre Sberro. The song reached no. 2 in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Norway. In Belgium it reached no. 1 in Wallonia and no. 7 in Flanders.

Aphrodite's Child was a Greek progressive rock band formed in 1967, by Vangelis Papathanassiou (keyboards, flutes), Demis Roussos (bass, acoustic and electric guitar, vocals), Loukas Sideras (drums and vocals), and Silver Koulouris (guitar). The band's career ended shortly after release of their most impactful album, 666, which has appeared on a number of lists of the top progressive or psychedelic albums of all time.

Aphrodite's Child was a Greek rock band formed in 1968 by vocalist/bassist Demis Roussos, t Evangelos (Vangelis) Papathanassiou and drummer Lucas Sideras. After a failed attempt to enter England, the band regrouped in Paris, where guitarist Anargyros "Silver" Koulouris was added to their line-up (although he would be forced to leave the band to perform military service, with guitar and bass both being played by Roussos during his absence).

666 has very much eclipsed everything else Aphrodite's Child has ever done, and it's often easy to see why, as these albums are often uneven, but there are gems to be found, like on this debut album, End of the World. Listening to songs like "Rain and Tears" and "End of the World", it provides little surprise that Demis Roussos became the pop balladeer that he became. But there are several songs, that sound surprisingly progressive, and it was 1968. Not proto-prog but full on prog
