Barrington Levy is a perfect example of this, considering that he’s been a succesful and respected reggae artist since the age of thirteen. His first brush with the big-time came with his very first band, the Mighty Multitude, which he formed with his cousin Everton Dacres. They released one single in 1977 which wasn’t succesful on the charts, but did secure Levy a solo career that he began one year later. Barrington Levy came to prominence in the 80s, entering the world of dancehall and reggae. Yet he didn't just become another name, he helped shape and remodel the genre into what it has become today. Now a far more popular genre of music, when Barrington released his debut album back in the 70s, he was bringing totally new sounds and music with him. He has an obvious and visible passion for the music he performs onstage which is just wonderful to see in a live setting.
