Complete your Soft Walls collection. Never Come Back Again. Early In The Day. No Time. I really dig this album. Dark and lonely one-man-band otherworldly stuff, I got straight into the feelin of what, I believe, this listening experience was meant to be. Although there are some rather depressing lo-fi strung out tunes which spoiles it down a bit there are a few remarkable krautesque obsessive spaced out loops that once they start you get trapped into and hope it will never end (Never Come Back Again, a little 'minimal' masterpiece).

Soft Walls is the solo project of Dan Reeves, indie label boss (the brilliant, singular Faux Discx) and member of Brighton post-punkers Cold Pumas. Under his own steam, Reeves serves up a wonderful line in atmospheric psychedelia, like the Velvet Underground submerged in lo-fi fuzz. Rich in texture, the ten-song set muses on the passing of time, from the layers of drones and chiming guitars on Won’t Remember My Name, to the hypnotic organs of the propulsive Never Come Back Again and the shimmering, wistful Guided Through. The solo project of Cold Pumas' Dan Reeves, Soft Walls takes his fascinations with Krautrock and lo-fi in a very different direction. In between his duties with Cold Pumas and running Faux Discx Records, the Brighton, England-based Reeves began recording his experiments with psychedelic folk and electronic elements in 2011; the results were Soft Walls' self-titled debut album, which was released the following year. Soft Walls returned in 2014 with No Time, a more polished and thematically cohesive effort recorded on a borrowed eight-track.
