The BBC Recordings is a live album by English post-punk band the Sound, consisting of two sessions and two live recordings from 1980 to 1985 done for BBC radio. It was released in 2004 by Renascent. The first disc of The BBC Recordings consists of two recorded sessions, the first for Mike Read, which was originally broadcast between 6 and 9 October 1980, and the second for John Peel, broadcast on 16 November 1981.

Biology of Insect Song. Singing insects produce sounds in a variety of ways. Among crickets and katydids, the base of the forewings are specially modified for sound production (see the image to the right). Upon hearing this sound, the male begins singing a special courtship song that elicits more ticks and guides him to the female. Finally, he mounts his mate and begins singing yet a third song type as the pair join to accomplish sperm transfer. As with crickets and katydids, pairs separate after copulation, and males are able to mate with other females that they encounter during the breeding period. In crickets and katydids, eggs are laid either in the soil or in plant tissues.

Sound biology takes a look at the human component in the audio chain that relates to the final interpretation. We ultimately hear with our brain using our ears as a tool to transfer sound from the environment into a signal we as humans can interpret and experience.
