Released in 2008 on BBE Records after two years of hard graft involving 26 musicians, an analog studio and a reel to reel tape machine.

Press Release : Al Kent presents The Million Dollar Orchestra. Al Kent was born in Scotland. He was shit too. So Al opened his own club in Glasgow, based on his experiences in New York. With his pocket money he flew Richard Long over to kit it out and had Walter Gibbons DJ at the opening party. For the full story of The Million Dollar Orchestra see the biography, in short the album was recorded in the traditional way, mostly one take, in an analogue studio. The Sound is rich, lush, string laden, beautiful disco music, full of joy with phenomenal musicianship. It is Al Kent's biography told in Music.

Scottish disco junkie Al Kent can sucker you into believing that his orchestra’s tracks were salvaged from finger-smudged records found at a retired DJ’s rummage sale. The elements are all there: sashaying string sections and Latin piano riffs that introduce every bum who walks into the discothèque, hi-hat snaps, and the essential let-it-hang-out camp. Don’tcha Wanna Get Down and Rock Freak Boogie capture it all. However, Kent’s formula grows repetitive and loses its momentum over this hour-long album.

Once there was Disco, and on the other side of the ocean there was Al Kent. That's all there's to it. All of us Disco-lovers need to bow down to the fabulous Al Kent, if not alone for his tremendous edits. But no, Mr. Kent realised what nobody thought was possible; creating a Disco band and releasing a magnificient artistic Disco masterpiece anno 2008. The amount of time, energy and money that was required for this project needs endless admiration. Thanks a million. Each and every track keeps its authenticity, but still you can hear it is a 2008 production, including all features of a great 'Edit'. This really is a 21st century Disco Album. The opening track has to be my favourite. The variation in that one simple line 'Dontcha Wanna... Get Down Get Down', got me hooked from the very start. This is Disco at its best. The second track continues the groove and the catchy 'Ooh' in between 'Get It Boy' is sophistaced Kitsch in my opinion. The third track includes a break of which not even Larry or Tom couldn't have dreamt. At first I thought it was the beginning of the next track, and then those heavenly violins start kicking in again. One of the albums climaxes. I can go on and on, but Discogs suggests reviews to be rather short. This records scores a 6 out 5! Al, we will be looking out for a Tour and hopefully a second album. Many thanks!
